Ovation Chicago Wedding Photography – Six Hearts Photography

Mary and Matt had us fly up to their city of Chicago for their incredibly fun wedding, a modern industrial style Sunday Funday.

There were dogs in flower crowns, to die for skyline views, super sweet first looks, tons of craft beers, a trolley, a taco truck, and more. They totally found the perfect balance between elegant and fun as all get out. These guys know how to wedding.

Here’s a run down of the day:

Mary began the day getting ready at Freehand Chicago while Matt spent his morning at the Chicago Athletic Association. They traveled separately, Mary on a trolley with her bridesmaids and Matt on a train with his dudes, to their first look location on Museum Campus: the Field Museum. Mary approached Matt from the bottom of the stairs and they were ecstatic to see one another. Love love love. Our next stop was at Adler Planetarium with an incredible Chicago skyline and Lake Michigan view.

Family photos were taken at The Berkshire Room – a super trendy location in the city. After family photos, we traveled to the venue, Ovation, for their early day ceremony and brunch reception. Ovation was the ideal venue for a photographer. Plenty of light shining through the long sky roof, tons of photo opportunities, and the nicest of the nicest owners and staff.

Mary and Matt’s dogs walked down the aisle in flower crowns with their rings, confetti was thrown for their processional, and their officiant was the most heartfelt and incredible speaker we’ve heard.

After their ceremony, we snuck off in a Rolls Royce with the newlyweds to Goose Island, a brewery just down the road from Ovation, where they sat at the bar and had a beer while chatting with the employees and flirting with one another.

We returned to the venue where there was a massive brunch meal fit for royalty, a kids table, tons of craft brews (cause everyone knows brunch without booze is just breakfast), foosball, ping pong, giant jenga, and more. After dancing and games began, a taco food truck arrived for afternoon snacks. (mmm)

Emily with Five Grain Events was their wedding coordinator and nailed the entire process from start to end – all while being thorough and easy to work with. We couldn’t have asked for a better coordinator to orchestrate this fun and adventurous day nor a better venue owner, Spencer, to keep the day nice and easy going, not to mention the fact that Matthew and Mary were dream clients.
