Alex and Pat held their wedding at Ambient + Studio. The entire day was personalized to perfection by them – all the way from the brews made and bottled by the father of the groom with custom labels on them at every guests seat, to the late night mac and cheese snacks, to the arcade games, flow toys, and beyond.
We are so excited to share their photos and some randomly placed deets on their wedding that we scooped up from them and know you’ll love.
Q. How did you choose the style of your wedding?
A. As an industrial engineer (working in factories) and aerospace engineer, refurbished factory and warehouse spaces with lots of open space and light tended to speak to us. Once the venue was found (1910 Textile Factory turned photography studio), the “Industrial Chic with subtle nerdy flare” theme followed.
Q. Tell us what is unique about your wedding.
A. We had a “minimal pearl clutching” policy with the theme. We’re pretty nerdy and wanted to have allusions to several of the things we loved, while not overwhelming our more conventional families. Things like floating candles over 4 long dining tables for dinner (Harry Potter), glowing clouds hanging over our bar area (Welcome to Nightvale), or selecting the main DragonCon hotel for guests/rehearsal dinner/post-wedding brunch. It all can look “normal” and pretty, but has extra special meanings to us.
“We try to use local vendors (like our florist who grows their own flowers) or small business whenever we can (like etsy vendors for gifts, invitation designs, Giant Connect 4, etc).”
The flowers incorporated hops, succulents, purples (such as iris, lavender and/or filler flowers), creams, and lots of greens.
Here is a list of all of their DIY projects:
Chandeliers over ceremony
Cloud lights and Millennium Falcon over bar and indoor “yard game” area
Floating Candles over dining area
Giant Jenga & Cornhole
Ceremony arch by Stepfather
Tablecloths by Mother
